Small changes can point to a hidden leak
A higher water bill, a warm spot in the floor, or new staining can all be worth a closer look. With every fixture and water-using appliance turned off, the small leak indicator on the water meter can also reveal very small amounts of continuing flow. Meter designs and indicator sensitivity vary, but the basic check works the same way: movement while everything is off means water is still flowing somewhere.
